Tess Gerritsen, creator of the Rizzoli & Isles series, raises money and awareness for Alzheimer’s research by ( 15 August 2013 / ) - For bestselling author Tess Gerritsen, creator of the Rizzoli & Isles series, raising money and awareness for Alzheimer’s is personal. Gerritsen, who lost her father to the disease, recently wrapped her War on Alzheimer’s, raising more than $50,000 to support research at The Scripps Research Institute (TSRI) in La Jolla, Calif. and Jupiter, Fla. Nearly 400 donors gave almost $28,000 during the online campaign, and Gerritsen personally contributed $25,000 in matching funds. Two donor-fans also won the opportunity to name characters in Gerritsen’s upcoming “Rizzoli & Isles” novel, set for release in 2014. (Source: )
