by JoAnna CarlCover Artist: Ben Perini Review by Sherry Lilley NAL Hardcover ISBN/ITEM#: 9780451231277 Date: 05 October 2010 List Price $21.95 Amazon US / Amazon UK / Show Official Info / Murder has returned to Warner Pier, and Lee McKinney Woodyard is again on the hunt. Who is the mysterious dead man? More importantly, who are the pirates? It's summer in Warner Pier, and the residents are enjoying the weather and the lake. When pirates start boarding boats, putting on a little impromptu show, everyone is delighted. They all want to know who is playing the part of the pirates? And no one is telling. Then one bright morning, a frightened, crying girl comes running up to Lee. Her friend, she believes, has drowned at the beach. The search for her friend turns up a dead man, but not the expected dead man. No one recognizes the dead man, and the missing man is still missing. And Lee begins to wonder, why did the frightened girl come to Lee? The girl passed several houses on the way to Lee. She could have gotten help for the missing man sooner. Questions, mysteries, oh boy! This book has a familiar cast and setting, and is a comfortable, easy read, with a bunch of chocolate trivia. It is not the best of the series, but it is still worth the time to read. It is set during summer, so it would be a fun way to spend a cold, miserable winter day with thoughts of summer.
