Aggie Sloan-Wilcox finds herself hip deep in murder when a former minister dies and the police suspect his take-charge wife is the killer in Emilie Richards' newest Ministry is Murder novel, A Truth for a Truth. While Aggie finds Hildy Dorchester, annoying, most people regard her as a paragon, the epitome of the perfect minister's wife. Despite Aggie's own feelings and even though Hildy and Win quarreled over another woman just before he died, she believes Hildy could never have killed him.

Always determined to be Aggie Sloan-Wilcox first and only secondarily a minister's wife, she can't resist solving a murder. Influential church member try to dissuade her and so does Detective Russos. He has suffered through some of Aggie's earlier cases, her false starts, and her habit of confronting killers.

Funny and a bit eccentric, she must also juggle family matters, sleuth out why her daughter dropped the debating team, and make tempting vegetarian meals. Aggie worries about her best friend Lucy Jacobs' love life, her old kitchen floor, and Hildy. Freed of her usual activities associated with flipping houses, she focuses on the murder. Several church members grow more irate with Aggie's questions and threaten action against her minister husband Ed.

Meanwhile, Aggie believes the hit and run death of a woman who attended Win Dorchester's memorial services may also have been murder. Dorchester knew the woman from his visits to the Russell House nursing home and had counseled both her and her daughter Zoey.

An exciting climax brings Aggie to the rescue and a confrontation with the armed killer. Boats, jet skis, and cold water are not her forte. Neither is athletic ability. However, Detective Russos is nowhere in sight.

As always, Richards delivers a fun mystery with plenty of self-deprecating humor. A popular and prolific author, she also writes the Happiness Key mystery series set in Florida.
