When you read a series, you'll find yourself getting attached or at least noticing the background and secondary characters. In the Kate Shugak mysteries, there are a group of brothers who are first responders in the park. They're all trained as EMTs and have a small clinic attached to their home. They show up when someone needs medical care.
Where did the come from? How did they become EMTs and first responders? Just who are these brothers and how did they get to be where they are? What's their story?
In Conspiracy, you get a glimpse into the life of these brothers and how they became the characters that we know from the other novels. There's not much Kate in this story, but she and the Aunties have a hand in the conspiracy that teaches the brothers a bit of a lesson in taking care of business -- non-medical.
A fun bit of background that will give any fan of the books a bit of a smile.
