In her latest dead-end job/undercover assignment, Helen Hawthorne poses as a stewardess on a private yacht. She is trying to catch a jewel smuggler on a luxury yacht. Between serving drinks to the snobs, scrubbing floors, cleaning up after seasick passengers and a poorly house-trained miniature poodle, she's starting to miss dry land almost as much as she misses her new husband, Phil. Phil's a little busy right now. He's trying to catch a sexy gold digger who may have killed her elderly new husband for his fortune.

Helen's life as a stewardess on a luxury yacht is not luxurious. In fact, it's enough to discourage just about anyone from trying out for the job. But being a stewardess allows Helen the look for the smuggler. Who, among the crew, is smuggling the emeralds? And just how dangerous is this smuggler? Did the missing stewardess just get tired of her job and grab an available ride home? Or did something more sinister happen? And what about that swine of an engineer that's mean to the little dog, too? Is he the smuggler? Maybe it's the handsome crewman? Who says beauty, brains and menace don’t go together.

Meanwhile, back on land, Phil is checking out the lovely widow, while she is checking him out. Did she murder her husband, like her stepdaughter claims? Or is she just a lucky gold digger, one who escaped a long life with her elderly, rich husband? Phil, the master of disguise, is going to find out the truth.

This is a cozy, with a little edge. I read it in one sitting, and was having so much fun reading it, I didn’t know how much time had passed. The description of life aboard a luxury yacht was very interesting, and a bit surprising. I think anyone who enjoys a mystery without a lot of graphic violence, will enjoy Final Sail.
