Dev's best friend Boone is about to be arrested for murder, and Dev has to do something! At the same time, she needs to tend to her love life. Should she be waiting for Deputy U.S. Marshal Jake Del Vecchio, who is on an undercover assignment, and/or enjoying the company of her ex-beau Noah Underwood, the local doctor from a high-society family.
Well, maybe she can figure out her love life while she figures out who killed Elise Whitmore and framed Boone? Or did they frame Boone? Was he just conveniently there? And why did Elise Whitemore offer Dev a great deal on antique chocolate molds that would be perfect for Dev's Easter gift baskets? Do the molds actually belong to Elise's soon-to-be ex-husband? In buying them, has Dev committed a felony? Questions, questions, questions. Good thing Dev likes finding answers.
The book is fun to read. The characters are people you'd probably like to know. The mystery is resolved in an entirely satisfactorily way -- but not too predictably. This is the second book in the series. I have not read the first one (not yet -- itís on my list), but the story was just fine even so. Maybe I would have picked up on more of the subtleties of the book if I'd read the first one, but I did not get lost because of it.
Winter is still with us. You know you need a good book to cuddle up with. This book should definitely be considered for that position.
