Patrick Lloyd is a young wall street adviser at the world's largest Swiss bank. When Abe Cushman, investment guru kills himself, Lloyd finds himself unexpectedly sucked into a maelstrom of intrigue as his girlfriend Lilly is somehow tied to billions of dollars of losses suffered by Cushman's clients. These clients are a group of very dangerous and powerful investors--who not only want their identities and money movements kept secret but, they also want the billions they have lost back.
While FBI agent Andie Henning investigates the circumstances around Cushman's death the noose tightens around both Lilly and Lloyd. They quickly realize that only they can save themselves and to do that they need to figure out what Cushman was up to and how he managed to get away with it for so long.
Grippando is perhaps best known for his Jack Swyteck series. While this book is not directly related, even though it contains the character of Andie Henning, Swyteck's fiance, it does contain the same rapid pace and tight plotting. As with all of Grippando's thrillers, this one is based on personal knowledge and then expanded out so it has the ring of truth to it, which makes the page turning all that much more mandatory as everything he's put forth could just have easily been taken from the headlines.
I've enjoyed Grippando's Swyteck series and dove into this one expecting the same kind of keep you on your seat edge writing. I wasn't disappointed. Grippando, now in his nineteenth novel, still comes across as fresh and interesting as ever. If you have any love for financial, international thrillers then this is a must read for you. If you're a Jack Swyteck fan then you'll also want to pick this one up. Definitely recommended.
