Tensions are running very high in the White House kitchen. Olivia "Ollie" Paras, head chef, has a state dinner to plan with her staff, a wedding to plan with her fiancÚ, Special Agent Leonard "Gav" Gavin, and keeping the staff's anger levels from boiling over about the new chef, Virgil, who was hired by the first family to cook their family meals.
There is a good chance that the U.S. will manage to get a treaty signed and end a war. That means that the contract private security forces will be withdrawn and return to stateside. In fact, some of them are now working with the secret service to beef up security at the White House during the state dinner and peace talks.
Of course, that's when things start to go wrong. In trying to find someone to marry them, Ollie and Gav arrive to find a roomful of dead bodies. They're just at the wrong place at the wrong time but someone thinks they know something. It looks like Ollie's on the hit list and that's just one more item she just doesn't need to deal with right now.
There's wonderful talk of food along with a great deal of tension, thrills, and intrigue. Careful readers may guess what's happening but the ending will still surprise as there's a lot of misdirection as to who is really behind it all. Another thrilling entry into the White House Chef series.
