Toussaint begins a new mystery series, Dreamwalker Mysteries, with Gone and Done It, featuring Baxley Powell, pet sitter, landscaper, and dreamwalker. When Baxley discovers a human skull while planting a cherry tree, she can't resist probing a bit. She discovers the bones are old and are of a mother and child.
The sheriff's deputies are convinced she is tampering with the scene and taser her. Convinced about what she discovered, she attempts to work a deal with the sheriff to hire her as a consultant. In deep debt, she needs money to pay her bills. The local community respects Baxley and her family for their abilities to communicate with the spirit world.
When Baxley's employer and owner of the cherry tree learns about the discovery, she is furious. She wants the police off her property now. She arranges for a State Archaeologist, a close personal friend, to take over the investigation.
When Baxley finds a second body, this one contemporary, the property owner fires Baxley without paying for her time or the plants already purchased. Now the police-consulting job becomes essential. After research in the historical records, Baxley identifies the woman, child, and a baby, as early colonists. The local Indian tribe wants the bones, believing they are Native American. This stirs up another hornet's nest.
Baxley's father has aged and the dreamwalking he does for local families has taken a toll on his body and mind. He wants Baxley to take over as the dreamwalker. She is reluctant, but also worried about her father.
Baxley discovers she still has a lot to learn about the spirit world and the evil creatures who want to use her to regain access to the living world. She is forced to call upon her father for help.
With the help of a local Indian, her father, and the sheriff, Baxley gathers the information needed to identify the latest victim. The exciting climax puts Baxley in danger as she struggles against a crazed killer.
Toussaint has five romantic suspense novels and five mysteries. Her current mystery is set in coastal Georgia. Gone and Done It follows a current trend of paranormal mysteries. Atlanta author Alex Hughes, author of Marked, offers a telepath and a mindscape walker in a future setting.
