With Jordan out of town, testifying in the trial that's keeping him in witness protection, and Michael and his girls moved out into their home, Charlotte is looking forward to peace and quiet, and getting a little work done on her home. Hosting Noelle Adams, the sommelier hired to do great things for a local winery, won't interfere with that. Noelle is a lovely, charming, gracious woman. Charlotte is enjoying her, and does appreciate all her help refinishing the secretary desk. However, one fine evening, Charlotte comes home to find Noelle dead in the garage, where they had been working on secretary desk. Oops.

Suspects abound, of course. The hotheaded ex-lover, the owner of the winery, his daughter, and the manager are the top contenders. The reporter is also worth taking a good long look at. Charlotte would be very happy to just leave this crime to the police, but someone seems intent on dragging her into it. Her house keeps getting searched, and is that someone following her? Hmm. Well, only one thing to do, and that's find the killer.

The plots running in the background are also a lot of fun. There is the rivalry between the shop owners, one of whom is Michael's ex, and the mother of his children. the ex, Sylvie, seems to have finally accepted the fact that Michael has moved on without her. His getting married might have been a clue. But she's staying in town and creating a minor amount of trouble. However, the other shop owner, Prudence, seems to be losing her mind and the chaos that ensues as she creates problems where none exist adds an entertaining touch. Also going on is the Thanksgiving play, put on at the local theater by Charlotte's grandmother. It sounds confusing, but it's not.

This series just keeps getting better. And where's my local cheese shop? I need try some of the cheeses she talks about, and make some of the tasty treats for which she has provided recipes.
