Park County, Tennessee is a little county, not a lot of real estate, but they seem to be having quite a crime spree.
While Theo's best friend, Nina, is out of town, there is a water leak at Nina's house. Theo calls out the water restoration folks, and they find the body of Nina's ex-husband floating in the root cellar. Somebody is stealing the local moonshine and setting fire to the stills. Then there's Eunice Plover. She died for reasons unknown. Yes, she was a senior citizen, but she was a healthy senior citizen. There are no signs of violence on her person or in her home. It looks like she just laid down and died. Just because that's not enough to worry about, Blossom's sister is missing.
The sheriff of this small county, Tony Abernathy, Theo's husband, has a lot on his plate right now.
Tony and his deputies are busy trying to solve these problems, when a new menace pulls into town – a celebrity with a bad attitude, a sense of entitlement, and bunch of bodyguards.
It seems like a lot is going on in this book, because a lot is going on. But somehow, the story unfolds in an entertaining way, moving along with barely a hiccup. The characters are fun to read about, and, if you’ve followed this series, all your favorites put in an appearance at least once. The various mysteries, or crimes, or both, are, mostly, solved. There might be one or two left trailing for the next book.
This is a truly fun cozy series, and this is one of the best in the series. The story moves along at a nice pace, the characters are interesting, and the solution to the mysteries, those solutions Ms. Graham provides in this book, are unexpected. I enjoyed this book tremendously, and I'm very curious to see how she solves the bits left unsolved.
For the quilters out there, there is, as in all of her books, a mystery quilt pattern included in the book.
