Too Pretty to Die: A Debutante Dropout Mystery
by Susan McBrideReview by Sherry Lilley Avon Mass Market ISBN/ITEM#: 9780060846015 Date: 01 February 2008 List Price $6.99 Amazon US / / Show Official Info / Making the rounds -- in place of plastic, crystal, or candle parties -- are pretty parties. Women are invited to a party to get spruced up. Unfortunately, when one guest at a pretty party has a less than happy result, she decides to get revenge. She, Miranda, gets drunk, crashes a pretty party, waving a gun around and swearing revenge. Andy, who was at the party under protest, gathers up the drunken Miranda and takes her home to sleep it off. When Andy goes back to check on Miranda in the morning, Miranda is dead, and the signs point to suicide. Andy doesn't believe it, not for one little minute. Miranda is a pageant girl, and pageant girls do not commit suicide. They get revenge. Further, Andy's mom, Cissy, who is a good friend of Miranda's mom, doesn't believe Miranda committed suicide and she is determined to prove it. Mayhem ensues. This is a marvelous series. The interaction between Andy and her mom is always worth reading. The look into the upper crust, debutante, world of Texas is very fun. The writing moves right along, with nary a dull moment. And the answer to the mystery is a little bit unexpected. This is a good book, and I enjoyed it. Too Pretty to Die is just too good to pass up.
